Jay Bruce is returning to Queens.

The free agent right fielder agreed to a three-year, $39 million deal with the New York Mets, according to a baseball official with direct knowledge of the deal.

The official spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been finalized.

Bruce, 30, started the 2017 season with the Mets before he was traded to the Cleveland Indians in August. He combined to hit .254 and slugged 36 homers with 101 RBI in 146 games between the two clubs.

Bruce, , played a key role with the Indians during their MLB-record 22-game winning streak and postseason run.

His deal is the third-largest this offseason behind Carlos Santana‘s three-year, $60 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and Wade Davis‘ three-year, $52 million deal with the Colorado Rockies.

During his two brief stints with the Mets between the 2016 and 2017 seasons, he combined to hit .245 with 37 homers and 94 RBI in 635 plate appearances, establishing himself as one of the team‘s most productive offensive players. He has hit at least 20 home runs in nine of his 10 big league seasons, including a career-high 36 in 2017.
